My Mission for Rare Disease Research

Congenital Disorders of Glycosylation (CDG) are a group of more than 190 rare genetic conditions, many of which currently have no approved treatments.

For families living with CDG, research represents hope—hope for better understanding, improved diagnostics, more effective care, and ultimately, future therapies.

This year, we are fundraising as part of Team CDG through the Million Dollar Bike Ride to help advance that research.

Through this initiative, donations are eligible for a matching research grant from the Penn Medicine Orphan Disease Center, helping turn each contribution into meaningful progress toward treatments.

Funds raised will directly support CDG CARE’s mission and are thoughtfully reviewed by the Board of Directors to ensure they align with research priorities that serve the broader CDG community.

We named our team Davie Steps, a phrase that began during our time in the NICU when we were reminded that Davie would always show us what she needed, and when.

That perspective stayed with us.

As she’s grown, we’ve come to understand her journey not in milestones or timelines, but in steps—each one uniquely hers, unfolding in its own time.

Your support fuels research, empowers scientists, and strengthens a global community working toward a better future for individuals living with CDG.

If you feel called to support, we would be so grateful.

Thank you for being part of Team Davie Steps and for supporting a future filled with more answers, more progress, and more hope. 🤍
