Fight with Team Bailey Strong
Bailey Tra was diagnosed with Diffuse Intrinsic Pontine Glioma (DIPG) just one month after her sixth birthday. DIPG is the deadliest of all brain cancers, and Bailey’s rare mutation made it even more difficult to treat. She endured brain surgeries, countless sedated radiation sessions, chemotherapy, and three different targeted therapy drugs that were emergency FDA-approved for her use only. Through it all, Bailey never complained or cried. Though she was scared, she held her family’s hands and showed incredible courage every step of the way.
Bailey lost her fight at just seven years old, but she lived her short life to the fullest. The strength and resilience she displayed throughout her journey gave the adults around her a master class in bravery and perseverance.
Each year, about 300 children in the U.S. are diagnosed with DIPG, and tragically, there are still no known cures. That’s why the Pediatric Cancer Research Foundation (PCRF) is prioritizing innovative research, including the work of Dr. Ashley Plant-Fox, who is leading the first clinical trial for a heat shock protein vaccine targeting DIPG. Her research aims to improve treatment options and bring hope to children and families facing this devastating disease.
Sadly, this vaccine was not available for Bailey—but it may be the breakthrough that helps others. That’s why we continue to honor her legacy through Bailey Strong. Together, we have already raised life-saving funds in her name, and this year, we hope to cross the $100,000 milestone to support children and families who desperately need new treatments and cures.
Bailey’s courage continues to inspire us, and with your support, her impact will be felt for generations to come.
