$42,362Raised of $40,000
Thank you for supporting the Vermont Center for Ecostudies' 2026 Birdathon
We met our ambitious goal and raised over $42,000 for VCE’s conservation science programs. Thanks to all of our dedicated birders and generous sponsors who helped Birdathon raise 25% more than last year, with the participation of 4.5 times as many teams! We're grateful to have your support in our commitment to expand the reach of our pioneering science.
How it Works
We’re marking the 20th anniversary of our Birdathon by making it easier than ever to participate as a birder or a sponsor. Simply put, Birdathon is like a walk-a-thon, but you’ll count the number of bird species you identify instead of the miles you walk.
This fun and friendly birding competition is for everyone. You can participate as an individual or as a team of up to five people, and you'll choose any 24-hour period in May to get out and bird. You can choose how, when, and where you bird. Some participants will spend a full day hitting as many hotspots as they can to maximize their species count, while others will casually bird for a couple hours in their backyard or favorite park. The goal is to get outside and bird to raise funds and awareness for VCE’s biodiversity research and monitoring.
Regardless of your experience in birding or fundraising, a day spent outdoors in the company of birds is always rewarding. And – there are prizes within your reach!
When you participate in Birdathon as a birder (whether on a team or as an individual) and raise at least $200 to support VCE’s conservation science, you’ll receive a custom embroidered Northern Parula patch.
You’ll also have the opportunity to win several awards, which earn you bragging rights, a shoutout on our social media, a custom YETI mug.
