6th Annual Move For ALTSO. NYC Pickleball Tournament.
May 7 @ 6 PM | Court 16 FiDi
Mobility is Powerful.
Movement fuels our energy, lifts our mood, sharpens our minds, and affects everything we do. This May, we are celebrating Mobility Awareness Month and using our mobility to help provide high-quality care to CoolKids in emerging countries. Let's move!
Ten teams will compete in a round robin Pickleball tournament generously hosted by Court 16. Form a team ($750) or sign up as a free agent ($125). Enjoy food, drinks, and the chance to win exciting prizes while making a difference. All racquets and balls are provided courtesy of Court 16. A step-by-step guide is below.
There are two ways to play:
➜ Create (or Join) a Team:
Teams must consist of 4-6 players. If your team does not reach the minimum of four players, ALTSO will assign free agent(s) to your team.
Each team must fundraise a minimum of $750 by May 7th to be eligible to play. Donations can be made by you, your community, your company etc.
➜ Sign up as a Free Agent:
To sign up as a free agent simply register and add yourself to the team "Free Agent Sign Ups (ALTSO will place me on a team)."
Free agents must fundraise a minimum of $125 by May 7th to be eligible to play. Donations can be made by you, your network, your company etc.
Will you help us raise $80,000 by May 31st?
The average Move Team raises over $1,000 for our CoolKids! Whether you raise $200 or $2,000, know that every dollar will help to provide high-quality prosthetic limbs, appropriately fitted wheelchairs, and orthotic braces to CoolKids like Awatt.
➜ 95% of the 106 million children living with untreated disabilities in emerging countries cannot afford care. When Awatt lost his leg while trying to buy cookies, he was one of them.
➜ While less than 10% of kids living with disabilities attend school globally, 70% of school aged children in ALTSO's programs attended school in 2025. Shortly after we provided Awatt with his first prosthetic limb, he enrolled in kindergarten.
➜100% of our CoolKids will need continued care. Ten years of consistent support later, Awatt is now in middle school and dreams of becoming a doctor.
Will you Move for yourself and our CoolKids?
Mobility matters because:
➜ your mobility affects everything you do from the moment you wake up until the moment you go to bed
➜ regular movement can lower heart disease risk by 30%
➜ without the ability to physically walk, bike, or roll to school, children living with untreated disabilities cannot and do not receive an education
➜ 30 minutes of activity boosts your mood, memory, and creativity
➜ mobility is critical to a child’s ability to one day secure gainful employment, instead of dangerous and low-paying work such as street begging or waste pickers
