------
CCL Mountain West Regional Director Bill Barron grew up in rural Vermont and loved spending time in the mountains. He’s always had a deep-seated love for the outdoors and spent years working in the ski industry.
The birth of his daughter in 2003 motivated him to step out of his comfort zone to speak up for climate solutions; he knew that this overarching issue will impact her and coming generations.
So he got involved with CCL in 2010 because of their values of respect and appreciation and their approach of talking with everyone. Bill esteems CCL’s nonpartisanship and goal of helping our country with durable bipartisan legislative climate solutions.
Bill ran for federal office three times and covered a total of 2500 miles by bike as a single-issue climate candidate in Utah. He used his bike as a unique way to reach constituents, bring attention to the issue, and discuss solutions.
In 2022, he rode across Utah again on a “Listening Tour”. He heard what peoples’ positions were on the impacts of our changing climate and what they think should be done about it.
In similar style Bill rides again! This June 15th, he’ll begin a 1200-mile, two-week ride across Montana and Wyoming to find out from folks about their local climate impacts, gain local perspectives and discuss the economic benefits that can come from transitioning to clean energy. With everyone he meets, he’ll stress the importance of speaking up for what they want to see as a constituent and to advocate for legislative solutions at the federal level to match the scale of the challenges we face.
