Move for Museums

Three Tompkins County museums are teaming up for the first time: The History Center, the Museum of the Earth, and the Sciencenter. In order to raise awareness for these three museums, we're embarking on a friendly competition to walk, run, or bike during the weekend of June 27 to support the museums that bring joy and education to Tompkins County.

Your part: Sign up for a team and choose which activity you want to complete: walking, running, or biking. Tap into your network for either per-mile pledges or flat donations to support your Move for Museum weekend. A dollar a mile, five dollars a mile, whatever feels right. Then over the weekend, get out and about in Tompkins County! Walk, run, bike any distance, any route, any pace. Every mile raises money for your team's museum.

We're also in it for bragging rights amongst the three museums. Whose audience can complete the most walking miles, most running miles, most biking miles, and most dollars raised.

You can do your miles however you want, anywhere over the weekend, on your own schedule. If you want company, join us Saturday morning at the foot of the Black Diamond Trail for a kick-off breakfast, where people will share their favorite museum stories before heading out to do some miles.

Ultimately, this is local people supporting local museums.
