Personal Safety Workshop for Autistic Participants - in person - Offered by the Rose City Self Defense Program & ASO

Wednesday, June 24, 2026 from 5pm - 6:30pm

90 Minute Presentation and Roleplay Activities - NO Physical Defense Skills Will Be Taught

Offered by the City of Portland's Rose City Self-Defense Program specifically for Autistic participants.

Open to all genders and anyone age 16 and older. Autistic participants with or without a formal diagnosis are welcome. Supporters and caregivers are also welcome but must register on a separate Support Person/Caregiver Ticket.

Limit of 20 participants plus 20 support/caregivers due to space considerations.  

Topics:

Presented by the Rose City Self-Defense Program, Topics covered include:

  • Trusting Intuition/Instinct v. Bias

  • Boundary Setting

  • Situational Awareness

  • Assertiveness

  • De-escalation

  • Escape Options

  • Mass Transit Safety

No physical self-defense skills will be taught.
