The IAA Read-a-thon is a school fundraiser for the 2021-2022 school year. Students will set a reading goal, gather sponsors to pledge money, read during the week of February 27 - March 6, and turn in packets by March 18. Prizes will be awarded April 1.

100% of the proceeds raised from Read-A-Thon goes to student scholarships. Plus, research shows that the best way to become a better reader is to READ!

What is Read-A-Thon?

We have some awesome prizes for this event!*

1. Every student who reads at least 1 hour and collects 1 pledge will receive a coupon for a free small ice cream cone from Graff Dairy.

2. The top reader in each classroom will win a cash prize of $25. Second place gets $10. The top reader will be the student who reads the most minutes. Reading must be done at the student’s reading level.

3. Three prizes for people (in whole school) who collect the most money from pledges: First place - $25, Second place - $20, Third place - $15

4. A party/fun activity will be awarded to each class that meets its class reading goal. Each and every student needs to read to contribute toward the class goal. This means that if even one person does not read anything, the class will NOT get the prize.

*All prizes have been donated. All money raised from reading goes directly to student scholarships.

Class Reading Goals

K/1 - Class goal is to read at least 1050 minutes. Prize will be a class party!

2-4 - Class goal is to read 2,800 minutes. Prize will be swimming at Fruita Rec Center!

5-8 - Class goal is to read 4,725 minutes. Prize will be a pizza and ice cream party!
