Chess for Climate Action

In a chess game, there are three key strategies: protect your king, control the center of the board, and get all of your pieces involved in the game. We are raising money for Citizens' Climate Education, which implements three similar strategies: protect the most important thing, which is the habitability of the earth; stand in the center of the political spectrum and reach out to both sides; and get as many citizens involved in the game as possible. By making a donation you become one of those pieces getting involved in the game. Thank you for helping us to checkmate climate change!

Each of our player-fundraisers will play 10 "blitz" chess games online at a time of their choosing between now and December 16. A blitz chess game allows 3-5 minutes to each player to make all of their moves. If your time runs out before your opponent, you lose. The rapid pace leads to lots of mistakes! Some of us will be broadcasting our games live on Zoom or Twitch. Check with the player you are sponsoring to see if they are doing this. We are asking you to pledge a donation for every one of the ten games your player is able to win.
