Bret's Swim - Sardina to Corsica

On Sept 3rd, Bret will swim 10 miles across the Strait of Bonifacio from Sardina, Italy, to Corsica, France in an effort to raise money for Clean Ocean Access. This will be the 5th long-distance open water swim that Bret has done, raising money and awareness for ocean-related causes.

Starting back in 2007, when Bret did his first open water swim between Lanai and Maui in Hawaii, he knew he had rediscovered a sport (albeit slightly more challenging than in the pool) that would take him to many places around the globe. Continuing in that tradition, Bret plans to keep searching for new and challenging swims and hopes to continue to raise awareness of how precious our ocean resources truly are.

Growing up on Long Island, New York, Bret has always been connected to the ocean. His interest in conservation really took hold when he attended St. George’s School in Newport, RI. When Bret learned about Clean Ocean Access through Ben Tuff (and his own incredible swim), he knew he had found a cause to bring him back to his Rhode Island roots. Bret was impressed with COA’s educational programs, creating environmental ambassadors to spread their message worldwide.

Please support Bret today in his next open water swim and help him raise funds and awareness for Clean Ocean Access!

About Clean Ocean Access

Clean Ocean Access is a nonprofit organization with the vision of a clean, healthy ocean that is accessible to all. Since we began in 2006, COA has worked to support a healthy coastal environment through community science and engagement. COA is focused primarily on Aquidneck and Conanicut Islands, with programs and partnerships extending across Rhode Island and the Northeast. Our founding programs of CLEAN, OCEAN, and ACCESS focus on eliminating marine debris, improving water quality, and protecting and preserving shoreline access. Grounded by our values, COA strives to achieve our vision through our mission to inspire and educate the community to take action through environmentally responsible behaviors.
