About Dup15q Alliance
The Dup15q Alliance links over 2,000 families, worldwide, who have a family member with duplication15q syndrome, a rare genetic disorder. The Alliance community includes parents, grandparents, extended family, caregivers, medical professionals, and researchers, all focused on our mission of advancing breakthrough research and life-changing therapeutic treatments, supporting families affected by dup15q, and promoting advocacy. We see our Believe Walks as a way to raise community awareness and share information about Dup15q; make and strengthen connections between families in our region; and raise funds to support the exciting scientific research that is happening right now.
Dup15q Alliance connects families online--through our Parent Support Facebook Group, our virtual Connection Calls, regular Science Newsletter--and face-to-face through Believe Walks and regional gatherings, and at our family conferences. We provide information and emotional support to families with newly diagnosed children; assistance with negotiating the US special education system for families whose children are school age; and guidance and support for parents and caregivers as individuals with Dup15q become adults.
Dup15q Alliance works closely with researchers and pharmaceutical partners to support and assist in expanding our understanding of the various symptoms and features of Dup15q. Our goal is to improve clinical care and help discover treatments, such as behavioral and drug therapies, targeted specifically to Dup15q syndrome.
We participate in 18 clinics, in the US and abroad, that provide standardized care for patients with 15q disorders. Our clinics also serve as platforms for research, including the collection of important natural history data.
