565 MILES. 33 DAYS. ZERO EXCUSES.

Join us from Sep. 1 through Oct. 3, 2026, for GallantFew’s Run Ranger Run presented by Applied Leadership Partners to honor and continue the mission of Ranger Cory Smith, who ran, walked, and biked 565 miles from Fort Benning, Ga., to his home in Indianapolis, Ind. in 2012, to educate the public about the difficult journey a soldier makes to reintegrate into civilian life.

ONE RANGER. ONE AUDACIOUS OBJECTIVE.

The Cory Smith Story

In 2012, U.S. Army Ranger Cory Smith’s exit from the military was full of challenges. Keenly aware that he was not alone, Cory set his mind to raising awareness of the struggles many service members face when transitioning from the military to civilian life.

Instead of standing on the sidelines, Cory dreamed big. What if he ran the 565 miles from 3rd Ranger Battalion’s headquarters at Fort Benning, Ga., to his hometown of Indianapolis, Ind., in time for the Super Bowl? Surely that would gain attention.

Cory needed help. GallantFew’s Karl Monger answered the call to support the effort. Ranger Monger led a volunteer team to ensure that Cory could complete his objective by running, walking, and biking the entire route.

During the journey, spectators would gather to marvel at Cory’s resolve. To encourage him, the crowds would shout, “Run, Ranger, run!”

"I want to inspire veterans who may need to be shown that they can make it through the rough times," Cory said. "This challenge is not even close to the challenges that will be faced by many other veterans.”

Cory accomplished his objective. He was featured on Headline News and stood on the stage outside of the Super Bowl to tell his story for the benefit of his fellow warfighters.

Today, Run Ranger Run, is GallantFew’s largest annual fundraising event occurring from September 1 to October 3. Teams of participants run, bike, and walk, just like Cory, 565 miles while raising awareness benefiting GallantFew’s mission to remove barriers to veteran care through connection, coaching and counseling.
