Wayfarers Foray Hike with the Madison Mycological Society
When: Sunday, August 16th, 2:00 - 4:00pm
Where: Natural Bridge State Park
Cost: $10 registration fee to support the Wisconsin Wayfarers
Join us for a guided mushroom foray and explore the fascinating world of fungi! We'll begin with a brief introduction covering outdoor ethics, sustainable foraging, and important safety information before heading into the woods to search for mushrooms. Participants are welcome to explore with the group or independently, then we'll regroup to identify our finds, discuss mushroom biology and ecology, answer questions, and create a list of the species discovered.
What to bring: Dress for the outdoors, bring water, bug spray, sunscreen, and a basket or bag for collecting specimens (cloth, paper, mesh, or plastic all work). A small knife and containers such as egg cartons or tackle boxes for delicate specimens are helpful but optional. Most importantly, bring your curiosity and enthusiasm for fungi!
