Join us for the 5th annual Wichita County Buddy Walk!

The Buddy Walk® was established by NDSS in 1995 and has grown to be the world’s largest and most recognizable Down Syndrome awareness program, with hundreds of local Walks taking place across the US and select international countries. Each year hundreds of thousands of walkers collectively raise funds to support local programs and services as well as national initiatives.

The Wichita County Buddy Walk began in Wichita Falls in 2018 with a group of determined parents and has grown every year since. In those 5 years, the Buddy Walk has raised over $150,000 for The Arc of Wichita County and supported numerous other local nonprofit organizations that serve individuals with disabilities. The Arc of Wichita County offers a multitude of programs and services benefitting individuals with IDD of all ages. Help us raise funds to continue supporting their mission!

In addition to The Arc of Wichita County, each year the Buddy Walk Committee votes on another nonprofit or local project to support. This year, a portion of funds raised will be utilized to bring an iCanBike camp to Wichita Falls in the summer of 2024! iCan Bike is a 5-day camp where people with disabilities ages 8 and up learn to ride a bike without training wheels. How To Get Started

Register For the Buddy Walk in 3 Steps

1. Sign Up

Click on the "Register" button above to get started. Click "Create a Team" if you're starting from scratch. You will create your personal page and/or team page during the registration process, and you can update it any time through your login.

Once your team is created, others may join it by clicking the "Register" button, then "Join a Team" and choosing the team from the list. From there, team members can create their individual fundraising profiles and goals, which will roll-up to the team level.

Note: if you are enrolling multiple people, each unique registration will require a unique email address. We know this is an inconvenience, and our vendor is working on improving this for our events in the future.

2. Create Your Online Fundraising Page

After you register, customize your personal fundraising page by editing default text, uploading personalized pictures and changing the colors of your page. All edits can be completed by clicking the "Edit Page" link on your person or team page. You can make changes to your page as many times as you’d like.

3. Spread the Word

Once your personal fundraising page has been set up, you can send emails to your friends and family by clicking "Share" then "Share via Email or Text". The emails will provide a direct link to your personal page where your friends and family can make a donation on your behalf. We've even written some sample emails to help get you started!
