We are in a race to end hunger in America
Nearly 39.5 million Americans live in a food desert today – geographic areas where residents have no convenient options for securing affordable and healthy food. Americans living in food deserts must travel as many as 10 miles to find fresh fruit and vegetables. Disproportionately found in high-poverty areas, these food deserts create extra hurdles that make it harder for families to grow healthy and strong. Let’s shine a light on this startling number by committing to 10 miles of physical activity in August. Please join with Hunger Free America’s Associates Council in our e-RACE Hunger to push for realistic and effective solutions to eliminating food deserts in the US.
