Take Steps to End Local Hunger!

The Common Heart Hunger Walk is an opportunity to come together to raise awareness about hunger in our community and raise funds to support Common Heart's food pantry programs.

On Sunday, March 5, 2023, we had over 350 folks in 2 locations walk to raise awareness and funds to end local hunger in our community.

In Union County, it's estimated over 26,500 adults and children are hungry or facing the threat of hunger. That’s 10.7% of the residents of our county. 1 in 5 children in Union County live in homes facing food insecurity.

Common Heart's food pantries are a lifeline for our hungry neighbors. Each month, over 5,500 individuals are served through 11 pantry programs.

So why did we walk?

We walked to raise awareness about our neighbors experiencing food insecurity.

We walked to raise funds to provide food, to meet an immediate need.

We walked to be a part of a small revolution of kindness.

Every Dollar Makes a Difference

Pantry Network

Just $10 provides a week's worth of groceries for a hungry senior citizen couple. When Harriet first visited one of our evening pantries, it was clear she felt awkward and very embarrassed. She hadn't had a real meal in over a week. She saw the sign for the pantry and stopped by. But what she found was friendly people, "right neighborly folks." The smiles and kind words put her at east. She couldn't contain herself as she received the much needed food. True tears of relief and gratitude flowed. She's been back several times since and she looks forward to visiting her new friends. A simple box of food with kindness seems to fill her with gratitude, hope, and energy.
