I Never Knew How Strong I Was, Until Being Strong Was My Only Choice
In September 2024, I lost my husband, Bill, to Sudden Cardiac Arrest. We were married for 36 years. Bill was fit, active, and worked in construction, strong in every sense of the word. What happened came without warning and took us completely by surprise. It was the kind of loss you never imagine will happen to you… until it does.
Bill and I built a beautiful life together. We shared a deep love for volunteering, giving back, and showing up for our community whenever we could. We raised wonderful children we are incredibly proud of, and today, our family is blessed with amazing grandchildren who brought Bill so much joy. Family, service, and connection were at the heart of everything we did together.
Sudden Cardiac Arrest doesn’t discriminate by age, strength, or lifestyle. That truth has changed how I see heart health and prevention. Becoming a Heart Hero allows me to honor Bill’s life by sharing our story and helping raise awareness about the importance of heart screenings, education, and preparedness.
By supporting the Peyton Walker Foundation, I can help fund lifesaving work through a local, boots-on-the-ground organization dedicated to preventing Sudden Cardiac Arrest. If our story encourages even one person to take heart health seriously, then Bill’s legacy lives on—and that means everything to me.
