2025 Colorado Birding Challenge

The idea for the Colorado Birding Challenge (COBC) is simple: have fun birding and help raise funds for CFO and its conservation mission. There are three competitive categories (The Challenge, The Under-25 Challenge and The Green Challenge) that require participants to form teams of two or more individuals and follow the ABA Big Day Rules for counting species within the selected Colorado county. Each county has a "par" value representing the number of bird species expected for early September based on 10 years of eBird data. The teams within each category that find the most species relative to their county par are the winners! New for 2025, our COBC sponsor, Front Range Birding and Optics, will provide prizes to the winning teams in each category!

Alternately, you can elect to Bird Your Own Way! Just like it sounds, you can form a team or just bird by yourself. You can elect to scour a county, bird your local patch, or just keep a yard list. Maybe you want to be your own sponsor and make a donation, or you can create your own team page and share it with friends and family who might want to support you with a pledge or donation!
