I’m riding to raise funds and awareness for local kids with cancer and their families. Every dollar pledged will go toward the mission of Candlelighters For Children With Cancer, a non-profit organization that provides life-changing programs and services for families facing cancer across Oregon and SW Washington. The last day of Cycle Oregon was a cool, wet one. This will be my last report for this year.
Another Cycle Oregon in the books! What a week of cycling, socializing, sharing, joy, pain (physical, that is), and hope. Four of our honored children joined us at camp on Saturday, and we celebrated Cohn’s second birthday. He finished his chemo treatments and just turned two! Connor, Joshua, and Zeke were also there. 300 people sang happy birthday to Cohn in the dining tent at dinner. It was emotional. Here are some stats and photos.
- 5 days of cycling - (4 beautiful weather days and the last day it rained!)
- Camped in Grants Pass, and the historic town of Jacksonville, in southern Oregon
- 233 miles of riding
- 40 Candlelighters rode with us (out of the 400 riders total)
- $242,000 raised so far to help families with kids with cancer through Candlelighters
Thank you all so much for your donations. It means the world to me to be able to help these families who are on their cancer journey.

Just hit 200 miles today. The Candlelighters camp is having a lot of fun and creating a big impact. It’s so amazing to be surrounded by so many people who care! Good humans riding to help others.

From diagnosis through treatment and beyond, Candlelighters provide programs that meet the needs of the whole family facing childhood cancer. Your support provides:
$25: Helps fill our hospital food pantries, providing access to quick, nutritious meals for families while at their child's bedside during long hospital stays.
$100: Pays one essential household bill for families with a child in treatment struggling to meet their basic needs.
$250: Fills the hospital pantry for one week at OHSU Doernbecher and Randall Children's Hospitals, providing access to quick, nutritious meals for families while at their child's bedside during long hospital stays.
