Nate ran 202 miles for kids in Haiti! Help children, families, and communities in Haiti thrive by donating to Nate's fundraiser for Holistic Haitian Alliance!

Nate Whiting completed 202 miles in 70 hours between May 16th and May 19th!! While Nate met his mileage goal, we will continue to work together to meet his fundraising goal of $30,000 for the kids in Haiti, served through Holistic Haitian Alliance. Our fundraiser will remain OPEN! Let's do this TOGETHER!

Since Holistic Haitian Alliance, formerly known as Helping Haitian Angels, was founded in 2008 we have pursued one unwavering objective – that families and communities in Haiti would thrive!

We are not the only ones with this dream. Our Haitian brothers and sisters are helping us on a daily basis to achieve this goal. And together, our programs are working! Our growing alliance includes our children, over 70 employees, local community leadership, government officials, non-governmental organizations (NGOs), and our supporters. In the past 15 years, we have evolved from a home for orphaned and abandoned children to a community pillar for strengthening families, education, and collaboration through our Kay Anj Village.

Our joint efforts are transforming families and our community, and we are seeing improved outcomes in academic achievement, emotional care, social responsibility, and sustainable community practices.

Kay Anj Village (KAV) is located on 40 acres in the Haitian commune of Dekle, just outside of Cap-Haitien. In addition to our foster homes, KAV has an education campus with primary, secondary, and vocational schools; a dental clinic, five farms, transitional care for young adults, volunteer housing, and is home to Hope Church.

Nate Whiting (16) is a remarkable kid, who has decided to run 200 miles in an effort to raise awareness and funds for us to provide additional services for children and families in our Kay Anj community. Nate was able to volunteer for a week at KAV last November 2023, and he saw firsthand how incredible the children are as he ran with them each evening, played with them, assisted his grandparents in the dental clinic, and visited the school classes to practice English and LEGO robotics with students. Nate hopes the funds from his ultramarathon will benefit the dental clinic, schools, and health services for all the children and families who come to KAV. Please support Nate's effort to run miles for smiles in Haiti!

Nate will attempt to run 200 miles in 72 hours in an ultramarathon from May 16th 9:00 am - May 19th 9:00 am in New Jersey at a race called "3 Days at the Fair." In June 2023 Nate ran 104 miles in 24 hours and raised over $15,000 for HHA. This year he hopes to double his mileage and double the donations to benefit HHA! Thank you so much for your support!

*All gifts received go directly to HHA and are tax-deductible!

WOW! We are only $1,700 away from Nate's goal of raising $30,000 for the kids in Haiti through his 202 mile ultramarathon effort!😮❤ THANK YOU so much for so many donations (130 donations so far!) and for so much generosity. We are humbled and grateful to be part of this mission in Haiti to provide relief, education, dental and health care, food, and safety to so many beautiful children and families with Holistic Haitian Alliance.

Can you help us finish the race and hit Nate's fundraising goal today? 🏃‍♂️🏃‍♀️🙌Today is Nate's final day of school and 10th grade, and we can't wait to celebrate all that he has accomplished and worked so hard at this school year! Nate is amazed at the donations you have offered, and he continues to work and train each day - he is now training for an Ironman triathlon - he doesn't stop! 🤩

HHA has hired a Haitian dentist to work full-time in the dental clinic established by Nate's grandparents, Dr. Joe and B ecky McIntyre. Dr. Cliff is there at Kay Anj NOW (thanking God that he could travel safely there finally) and this is a miracle to have ongoing dental care available at Kay Anj. Your donations are paying his salary, and all the care provided is free or significantly discounted for those able to pay some. Your donations are also going towards supply expenses in the new high school being built, including LEGO robotic sets and STEM supplies. And, of course, donations also go towards any further educational and health needs for the children, students, and community members coming into Kay Anj.

Our local newspaper also shared a story about Nate and HHA last week: https://www.dnronline.com/news/turner-ashby-student-runs-miles-for-smiles/article_d0cf1638-a2f2-5e8e-8ecd-a78b993bf9f4.html

Thank you for sharing and helping Nate meet this incredible goal on his last day of school! 🙌❤

This morning our local TV station, WHSV-TV3 in Harrisonburg, Virginia, ran an awesome story on Nate's 200 mile race and fundraiser for Holistic Haitian Alliance. ❤ Watch the news story and read the article below! We continue to strive to meet Nate's fundraising goal of $30,000!

We are excited to announce we have an anonymous business donor who is matching donations up to $4,000! 😮🙌 Your donation will go twice as far! We're grateful also to Dental Implant Machine who matched donations up to $2,000 as well last week!

Together we are making a real difference, and your donations are being used daily to provide education, dental care, a new high school, good food and nutrition, and safety & LOVE to 400 students daily in the Kay Anj village and schools! Please keep sharing! Thank you!

By the way, Nate is recovering well from his 202 miles in 71 hours! He rested and slept a lot on Sunday and Monday, and then went back to school Tuesday. He hasn't even been that sore, but just tired from not sleeping much during the race. He's happy and feeling good about how it all went! Remember, you can follow his (recovery) journey and watch recap videos of the race on his instagram page: https://www.instagram.com/thenathanwhiting/

Nate did it!! He accomplished his personal mileage goal by hitting 200 miles this morning right before 7:00, so sub 70 hours! Then he added two more miles to receive a special award for 202 miles at this race, 3 Days at the Fair. He finished the full 202 miles in 71 hours right before 8:00. Nate ran and walked steadily throughout the night with just 2-3 hours of sleep. Again, he had so many fellow runners cheering him on and pacing him. Nate's parents also walked several miles with him, especially between 2:00 and 6:00 am. We are all so proud of his perseverance, dedication, and strength to do such a hard thing at such a young age.

Now that Nate has reached his mileage goal, we want to also reach his fundraising goal of $30,000 for HHA! He doubled his mileage from last year, so let's double the fundraising amount! Thank you for your generosity and support. ❤

It's about 4:00 pm on Saturday, and Nate has run 172 miles and he has 17 hours left of this race to run 30 more miles to reach his goal of 202 miles. He reached 150 miles around 7:00 am and 170 miles around 3:00 pm. Due to his body tiring and wearing down over these past 55 hours, he is having to take frequent breaks to rest his legs, knees, ankles, feet and to gain some energy. He has slept for an hour here and there. He says his legs feel so heavy, and he's especially experienced pain on the front of his left ankles. Please continue to pray for his strength and ability to reach his goal while remaining safe and injury-free.

We have been so touched by the other runners here helping Nate out. One runner is a PT and she helped tape his ankle. Another experienced runner gave us lidocaine patches that really helped relieve his lower leg pain and made it possible for him to run again. This is all a huge learning experience. Thank you again for your support in both helping Nate reach his goals and in showing love for these beautiful children in Haiti!

Nate continued to run/walk throughout Friday afternoon and evening. It's almost midnight now, and he's going to sleep for 2-3 hours before running again till the finish. He's really tired and sore. We (Nate's parents) are tired as well, so we're all getting into our tent for a couple hours of sleep. Overall, though, Nate is still happy and positive and he's constantly analyzing the race and how he's doing. He's talking to lots of experienced ultra runners and getting lots of tips. We continue to have racers praising Nate as they pass by our "station" and several have donated cash to Nate's cause (which I have added to this fundraiser). It's awesome seeing the great sense of community among all the runners here.

Please send prayers that Nate can sleep well for a few hours and then have the strength and energy to finish his miles (about 64 left). Thank you again for your support, and we hope to continue to climb to Nate's fundraising goal as he nears his finish line.
