Walking the walk of "growing the game"

We've all heard the phrase before. "Grow the game"...

What does it mean, though? Is it just lip service from the powers-that-be of golf?

Not at First Tee of Southeast Wisconsin. In my experience as a volunteer I've seen first-hand the hard work happening to make golf accessible to all. From our home course at Noyes Park (free for kids!) to our club library (also free for kids to get clubs!), and our summer and fall programs (really inexpensive and open to everyone!) and community programs, everyone is invited and encouraged to learn this game.

My favorite part of volunteering is seeing a student get that first pure shot. That feeling we all know as golfers that keeps us coming back. Second to that is watching their confidence grow along with a deepening of their relationship with their inner self, creating thoughtful and respectful future leaders in the process. With your support, First Tee of Southeast Wisconsin can further this mission and continue to offer more accessible experiences to golfers of all ages.

Oof! We walked all day and pulled out ONE HUNDRED holes! My feet are sore, the rest of me sore, but I’m so happy to have had the opportunity!

Highlights:
- 5 or so birdies, one chip-in

- a few pin-scares, but no aces

- an up-close encounter with a local hawk (she’d flown through a gap in the dunes not knowing I was on the other side and flew right by my face!)

Thank you so much, everyone!
