CLR - Athlete's Soul Fundraiser - WE ARE LIVE

Teammates, Friends and Family,

WE ARE LIVE!

Week of August 22-29th. I’m signing up in partnership with Athletes Soul to raise funds in support of athlete transition. Athlete’s Soul’s mission speaks to my core and offers services that tie into my work with CLR Connection.

The support and resources for athletes post college are bare. Programs exists solely to check boxes . Not to help with feeling of isolation, depression, lack of identity or self worth. You hear athletes struggle but assume we figure it out. Some do. Many don’t.

How do you help out and get involved?

#1 Join my team and put together your own walk/run/move campaign between 8/22 and 8/29. Choose a potential goal and let’s tell your story. Personally, I’m shooting for $3,000 in two weeks. You can be part of that $3,000. This supports two athletes in sport or at the early stages of retirement.

#2 Support via social media @charleslruiz. Raise awareness through your channel, re-share or promote my campaign.

#3 Donate directly. My goal is to support at least two athletes with a coaching scholarship ($3,000). You can donate on this page directly or make me run more by pledging per mile from 8/22-8/29.

Why the focus on retirement?

  • Only 3 in 10 athletes choose when to retire. The main challenges during athletic retirement reported by student-athletes are loss of identity, lack of purpose, and lack of structure.
  • Early specialization, a dominant athletic identity, and unplanned retirement make the transition away from sports more difficult.
  • With the help of Athlete’s soul’s transition coaching and resources, athletes get real-time help with 1:1 customized for the individual. This is applicable if you are currently in sport or retired.

Athletes spend most of their youth and early adult life surrounded by coaches and team members that have a similar goal and vision. No reason they shouldn’t have support in the most important time of their life…when they have to start over.

Appreciate you reading and supporting me in these early stages on something that is engrained in my mission.

We move better together.
