Counting Birds for Conservation

I am excited to take part in the San Diego Birdathon, a birding challenge supporting San Diego Bird Alliance’s local conservation, education, and advocacy efforts that benefit birds, other wildlife, and all who enjoy them.

I'm proud to help protect endangered birds like the California Least Tern, Ridgway's Rail, and Belding's Savannah Sparrow by counting as many bird species as I can in 24 hours during my Birdathon. Please consider supporting my efforts by giving to my page. You can pledge per bird species I see or make a flat donation (both are tax-deductible). Every dollar counts for our feathered friends! Thank you.

Thank you to everyone who attended our first Birdathon event of 2026 this weekend at Robb Field! It was so great to meet and bird with you all; I had a blast!

We observed a total of 32 species! Highlights include that not-a-reddish-egret-but-actually-a-little-blue-heron, the beautiful friendship between a snowy egret and a red-breasted merganser, an osprey flying away with a huge clump of vegetation, and of course, those pigeon chicks visible from their nests under the bridge!!

Thanks again to Victoria for keeping our eBird list: https://ebird.org/checklist/S321863086

Happy birding and hope to see you again soon!
