Why I Bird For Point Blue
I am thrilled to be participating in Point Blue's 2025 Rich Stallcup Bird-A-Thon! Now in its 47th year, this event is an opportunity to connect, learn, and grow as a nature-loving community and to raise conservation funds to secure a healthy planet. The goal is to identify as many bird species as possible in a 24-hour period between September 15 and October 15. Please consider helping me reach my fundraising goal by making a donation or by pledging a dollar amount based on the number of bird species I see.
As many of you know, I began my journey with Point Blue in 2017 as an intern at the Palomarin Field Station, and more recently joined the Working Lands Team in January 2024. I'm grateful that my current role allows me to work alongside local land stewards, farmers, and ranchers to support wildlife habitat, soil health, resilient food systems, and overall ecosystem health. I’m fascinated by the intersection of people and nature, and I deeply value the opportunity to observe the complex ways individuals and communities connect to place.
As a non-profit organization, Point Blue, is partially dependent upon private donors. (Now more than ever, given our current federal administration). Your donation will support the work that I and the rest of the Working Lands Group do to advance climate-smart solutions that lead to healthier communities and a healthier planet.
If you have any questions, don't hesitate to reach out to me. If you decide to donate and want your money to go specifically to my working group, please write in the comments section on your donation: "restricted donation for Working Lands Group." If you would like your money to be more broadly available for all of the great work that Point Blue does as an organization, that's also okay. As always, your donations are tax-deductible.
Thank you for your generous support and help in spreading the word. To learn more about Point Blue Conservation Science and their climate-smart conservation initiatives, visit their website at www.pointblue.org.
You can make a pledge per bird species or a one-time donation on my individual fundraising page. You can donate online by clicking "donate" above, or mail a check made out to Point Blue Conservation Science to ATTN: Rich Stallcup Bird-A-Thon, Point Blue Conservation Science, 3820 Cypress Dr STE 11, Petaluma, CA 94954 (please include my name in the memo line).
