My Mission for Mission Trails

Friends and family: I hope that you will support my mission to help raise funds for Mission Trails Regional Park, one of the largest urban parks in the country that is beloved to me and the San Diego community.

I'm excited to fundraise for the park's trail maintenance (it has 65 miles of trails), environmental education programs for youth, and other important initiatives at he park.

Please support me by giving to my page--every dollar counts.

06 December Another 5.6 mile hike through Rancho Mission Canyon. This is an interesting canyon. A lot of diversity in a small area. This picture of a golden currant was taken in April of 2024. I had never seen this plant before. Not really that common in San Diego County.

29 November Did an interesting 5.6 mile hike in this urban canyon. If we get rain at the right time there are a lot of interesting flowers in this canyon. Lots of different birds to see and hear. I could hear quail calling from several different places. I hiked from the trailhead across the street from the Patrick Henry football field on Navajo Road to the trailhead on Hemmingway Drive.

24 November Hiked 6.4 miles along the San Diego River at the Walker Preserve and the Lakeside Trail. I have never been on these trails before. Saw 4 American kestrels, a red shoulder hawk and a number of water fowl including several western grebes. This American kestrel has something and appears to be eating. It was dark and the pictures from this hike didn't turn out great.

23 November Hiked 3.6 miles to Cowles Peak from Big Rock Park. The brush on this trail which goes up the north slope of Cowles peak is really thick. The manzanita looks really old and kind of ratty looking. I am wondering when the last time this area ever burned. Got a picture of a northern mocking bird.
