Counting Birds for Conservation
I am excited to take part in the San Diego Birdathon, a birding challenge supporting San Diego Bird Alliance’s local conservation, education, and advocacy efforts that benefit birds, other wildlife, and all who enjoy them.
I'm proud to help protect endangered birds like the California Least Tern, Ridgway's Rail, and Belding's Savannah Sparrow by counting as many bird species as I can in 24 hours during my Birdathon. Please consider supporting my efforts by giving to my page. You can pledge per bird species I see or make a flat donation (both are tax-deductible). Every dollar counts for our feathered friends! Thank you.

The SDBA U-Terns held our Birdathon on Sunday, April 13, searching high and low across San Diego County for as many bird species as possible. Our quest took us from several miles offshore to the heights of Mount Laguna, and paid off with our biggest species count ever!
We collectively saw 172 species, and thanks to the generous support of our donors, have raised over $6,000 as of today!
Our team split up to achieve this high species count, and I'm happy to report that all team members contributed a unique species to the total. Gotta watch out for those "regular" birds :)
Notable sightings included Cackling Goose, Greater Pewee, Neotropic Cormorant, Lesser Yellowlegs, and Lawrence's Goldfinch. Also impressive were the 400 Pacific Loons seen migrating north over the ocean.
