Support me in the Great Wisconsin Birdathon!

This year I am going GREEN. This means that I will be staying within 2-3 miles of my home and using my legs to get around. I am hoping to spend some time at Monk Gardens at some point during the day where friends can join me for a while. I will keep people updated via Facebook if they would like to join me. I really have no idea how many species I will see so I am keeping it low goal of 50, hoping to see more. The date will be May 25.

By donating to my page, you're supporting the Natural Resources Foundation of Wisconsin's Bird Protection Fund, which funds Wisconsin's highest priority bird conservation projects, and the Wausau Bird Club. The club has many local ongoing projects either constructing and installing bird houses or helping create and maintain habitat. We also donate to other nature based organizations. In the past we have given to the Ice Age Trail and the Eau Claire River Conservancy.

Your support would mean a lot to me. Birds have made an incredible difference in my life and I want to protect them. Every dollar counts when it comes to helping our birds, so no donation is too small. Thank you for considering!

I totaled 67 species on May 26, 2024. I did over 13 miles on my bike and over 20,000 steps. The furthest I went from home was about 2.5 miles. My total species was pretty good considering most warblers were gone and not much opportunity for water birds. Some good birds that I saw were Bobolink, Willow Flycatcher, Red-headed Woodpecker and Black-billed Cuckoo. A few misses were Belted Kingfisher and Wood Thrush.

Thank you so much to all that donated. I appreciate all the support!

Your Donation Makes a Difference For Birds

Donations made to the Great Wisconsin Birdathon support the Natural Resources Foundation of Wisconsin’s Bird Protection Fund, which has given out over $1.4 million towards Wisconsin’s highest priority bird conservation projects since its inception in 2009.

Whether it's creating Piping Plover habitat, rearing Whooping Crane chicks, spreading awareness about declining songbirds, supporting community initiatives for bird-friendly neighborhoods, engaging new and underrepresented voices in the birding community, building impactful collaborations to protect Wisconsin's Important Bird Areas, or protecting our neotropical migrants on their long migratory journeys to Central America... the Bird Protection Fund is there to help.

Your donations make this work possible. Thank you for supporting on-the-ground conservation and being there #ForTheBirds!
