My Mission

You all know that I love nature and especially birds. I am joining the Golden Gate Bird Alliance’s birdathon and am fundraising to help the birds. Golden Gate Bird Alliance's mission is to inspire people to protect Bay Area birds. And we have a lot of work to do. So, please if you can I would appreciate it if you would donate. Just click on my page and follow the prompts. Thank you and every dollar counts!
Best to you,

Crystal

My friendly buzzy backyard Bewicks Wren has been often heard and seen this week. Great Egrets flying overhead with sticks in their beaks for nest building and beautiful Western Bluebirds were busy at the golf course this week.

Middle Harbor today. Tide was mid but still saw lots of marbled godwits, one long billed curlew, some peeps I couldn’t identify and several American Coots.

The hermit thrush taking a bath in my fountain was one high lite this week. Twilight brought breeding plumage into focus last night. Four Yellow Rumped Warblers were flitting in a blooming fruit tree in a neighbor’s year. The males were so striking with their gray and black punctuated by the brightest yellow on their head, chin, sides and of course their rump. Next was a nice close look at a Ruby Crowned Kinglet. Hopping from branch to branch of course but stopped twice and flashed his red crown. I have got to start carrying my camera!

I got out today and went to Lake Temescal and the birds were happy the sun was shining. The White Pelicans were there, Ruddy Ducks with their bright blue bills were dabbling away. Best for me was seeing a Belted Kingfisher. Made it home just as the rain started again.
