My name is Lily Giordano and I play goalie for the NJ Colonials 10U Minor Girls. I am 8 years old and live in NJ. This is my first-time raising money as a goalie as part of October Saves and I am thankful to be part of this amazing cause. This is close to me and my family. My Aunt Joni had breast cancer and she is the strongest person I know. She battled every day. She would be proud of me working hard like her as a goalie. My Aunt Joni loved hockey and I know she is with me and my family cheering me on! I wear a pink ribbon on my helmet for my Aunt Joni to let her know I Love her, miss her, and thank her for watching over us. I am raising money as part of October Saves for my Aunt Joni and to help other people with breast cancer. By raising money and awareness we can cure this terrible cancer and help those who are fighting it, just like those who helped my Aunt Joni.

A final update and thank you for all your support and generosity. The NJ Devils hosted a great Hockey Fights Cancer night. Lily had an amazing experience as the JR Captain. She got to fist pump all the players, skate a lap, and got announced on the big screen. She had a blast! Thank you all again!l #TeamJoan!!!

Thank you all again for your generous donations! As a result of all your support, Lily has been invited by the NJ Devils to be a Jr. Devil during Hockey Fights Cancer night. The Devils take on the Buffalo Sabres on Saturday, November 25. Lily will be representing the NJ Colonials goalies and will be geared up carrying the flag before warmups. This is so exciting and she is totally pumped and honored to be part of this special night. Thank you all! Happy Thanksgiving! #TeamJoan!!!

This post is to thank you all who donated to Lily and October Saves! From all your generous donations Lily has raised $5,500! This is incredible! Thank you all so very much for your generosity and support. The Colonials goalies have raised over $20,000! We can’t thank everyone enough. It’s means so much and it goes to an even better cause! There are so many families who donated who are personally impacted by cancer and we thank you all so much! Aunt Joni was a one of a kind and we know is with us everyday. Her family continues to grow and we always think of her and continue her memory. Lily has many of her personality traits. We will do our best to help honor her and support others impacted. Lily and 10U Minor girls had an amazing run in Rochester at their tournament going 3-2 and coming up just short in semi-finals to the 10U minor girls, Ohio Bluejackets. The girls played hard and did so well. They also had a blast together and are now even closer as a group. I wish I had a video of them blasting music at 7AM getting ready for their game; it said it all. A great tournament for them. Thank you all again!
