Today (4/20/25) I surpassed my original goal (100 species) by 7! A lovely afternoon up at Las Gallinas with great views of a Common Gallinule and a Bonaparte's Gull (so I was sure it was a Bonaparte's since I am terrible at identifying most gulls!!). It is too much fun to stop now so I am adjusting my goal to 125!

Almost the end of March - my species count is now 68. But more importantly is just how much fun it has been to be out at the beginning of Spring migration. Watching the nest building and hearing the birds sing is inspiring.

Yesterday (3/6/25) was my first official outing for Birdathon 25. I chose Elsie Roemer Bird Sanctuary as it is one of my favorite spots for birding. Total count for the 2 hour visit was 31 species. The most unexpected bird for the day was the Black Skimmer - a total of nine were perched on the mudflat. Always wonderful to see the Black Bellied Plover in breeding plumage.
