My Love for Golf
The program has given me the opportunity to play and share my love for golf with others like me with disabilities. I assist in enhancing the programs and enriching the lives of others. Ensures the registration tools are used for each clinic for the accountably and the waivers and participation forms are completed. Also, spreading the word and recruiting others to become involved in this great program. I’ve travelled to Savannah, Columbus, and Dahlonega to assist in the startup for these clinics. I’m also involved with assisting clinics such as the Blind Vision Impaired and children of disabilities. My goal is to one day play in the Senior Women’s Tour and to become a golf instructor.
On August 23rd, I will be attempting to play as many holes of golf at Druid Hills Golf Club to raise money for the Georgia State Golf Association.

GSGA Adaptive Golf Program
Programming sites throughout Georgia offer complimentary access to golf instruction, clinics, specialized equipment and playing opportunities. Serving individuals with physical, cognitive and sensory disabilities as well as Veterans who are suffering from PTSD and TBI as well as other physical injuries.
Since 2015, has impacted over 1,400 unique participants through clinics, play days and competitions. This community program annually provides complimentary equipment and instructional clinics at over 40 locations across Georgia. The program provides programming for the Shepherd Center’s Recreation Therapy Department.
The GSGA was the first state golf association in the U.S. to conduct an Adaptive Golf Championship which was held at Bobby Jones Golf Course on October 23–24, 2019. Over 50 players from 16 different states competed.
GSGA Junior Golf Initiatives
The GSGA’s Youth on Course (YOC) program partners with golf facilities across the state to provide juniors age 6–18 an incredible opportunity to play affordable golf. Youth on Course members can play golf for just $5 per round at over 40 participating courses in Georgia and over 900 around the country, while the GSGA subsidizes the remaining portion of the juniors’ greens fee to the facility.
The GSGA Junior Tour is a statewide program providing young golfers in Georgia an opportunity to participate in competitive junior golf. The program offers junior golf competitions throughout the state for players of all skill levels between the ages of 5–18. The Junior Tour remains steadfast in its desire to provide affordable competitive junior golf opportunities while also creating memorable experiences for juniors and their families.
Over 16,000 Youth on Course rounds have been played in Georgia since the program began in June 2017. The GSGA expects to subsidize over $100,000 in greens fees to its participating YOC facilities in 2021 which is a $30,000 increase over 2020. The GSGA also projects over 11,000 rounds played by members this year as well as increasing the number of courses available for members to play.
