I’m riding to raise funds and awareness for local kids with cancer and their families. Every dollar pledged will go toward the mission of Candlelighters For Children With Cancer, a non-profit organization that provides life-changing programs and services for families facing cancer across Oregon and SW Washington. The Ride for a Child group of forty riders just finished the Cycle Oregon Rally in Applegate Valley. I had a wonderful time with this great group of people. Candlelighters took super good care of us, and the weather was terrific until a little rain the last hour of our ride, on the last day! The fundraising goes until the end of September so there's still time for anyone wanting to donate. That was the last week of long rides. This week is rest and recover well for the start of the Cycle Oregon on Saturday. Maybe a couple short, easy rides this week. Next week should get close to 300 miles over the five days of CO! Looking forward to a fun week with a great group of Ride for a Child and Candlelighters people.

Another good week of riding exploring the Springwater Corridor Trail and various bike paths around SW Portland, Tigard and Tualatin. This will be the last week of longer rides, then rest, recovery and a couple easy rides the last week before Cycle Oregon starts Saturday 8/29. Thanks again to all you generous donors and supporters. You've helped me exceed my fundraising goals and helped Candlelighters in their mission to support children with cancer and their families.

Had a great time in Bend this weekend for a family reunion and managed to get in a killer ride from Bend to Mt Bachelor and back! 41 miles and 3100 ft of elevation! Great training ride for Cycle Oregon Rally and much more scenic than my rides around Portland.

From diagnosis through treatment and beyond, Candlelighters provide programs that meet the needs of the whole family facing childhood cancer. Your support provides:
$25: Helps fill our hospital food pantries, providing access to quick, nutritious meals for families while at their child's bedside during long hospital stays.
$100: Pays one essential household bill for families with a child in treatment struggling to meet their basic needs.
$250: Fills the hospital pantry for one week at OHSU Doernbecher and Randall Children's Hospitals, providing access to quick, nutritious meals for families while at their child's bedside during long hospital stays.
