Counting Birds for Conservation

I am excited to take part in the San Diego Birdathon, a birding challenge supporting San Diego Bird Alliance’s local conservation, education, and advocacy efforts that benefit birds, other wildlife, and all who enjoy them.

I'm proud to help protect endangered birds like the California Least Tern, Ridgway's Rail, and Belding's Savannah Sparrow by counting as many bird species as I can in 24 hours during my Birdathon. Please consider supporting my efforts by giving to my page. You can pledge per bird species I see or make a flat donation (both are tax-deductible). Every dollar counts for our feathered friends! Thank you.

We had a great outing at San Elijo Lagoon yesterday (4/29) with good company (humans and birds alike) and great weather. We also hit our species goal of 40, just barely!

Here's our eBird list from the outing:

https://ebird.org/checklist/S330035365

Highlights included close encounters with an Osprey and a Forster's Tern, some very cute Ruddy Ducks, and continuously finding birds to look at every 5 feet. Not too many ducks or shorebirds left at the lagoon, as most have departed north for the summer.

We're almost at our fundraising goal too, only $50 left to go!
