I am Playing for Pride because:
LGBTQ+ inclusion in sports isn’t optional — it’s necessary. Every athlete deserves to feel safe, seen, and celebrated exactly as they are.
Visibility saves lives. We have the power to shift culture and create space for every player to thrive, no matter their identity.
I want my two kids, Sloane and Ocean, to grow up knowing they can be exactly who they are — and do anything they set their hearts on. Inclusion, love, and courage should lead the way in everything we do.
This year, I'm aiming to raise $3,000 throughout June, and will be using the number of clean sheets (team defense!) as the metric I'm tracking. I hope you'll join me in whatever way you can to support Athlete Ally's work.
More about Playing for Pride:
In 2017, professional soccer player Austin da Luz saw the LGBTQI+ community in his state come under attack, and started Playing for Pride as a way for professional soccer players to show their support for LGBTQI+ inclusion in and through sport.
Eight years later, we find ourselves in a moment where standing up proudly for the LGBTQI+ community is a critical action of solidarity, community, and love.
Playing for Pride brings together athletes, teams, and leagues to support Athlete Ally's mission of making sports inclusive for the LGBTQI+ community.
