Why I Bird For Point Blue

Last year, I participated in a Bird-A-Thon for the first time to raise funds for Point Blue Conservation Science. Point Blue Conservation Science is a group of scientists who work to protect the environment and develop nature-based solutions to environmental threats. A Bird-A-Thon is a day when birders try to find as many bird species as possible in a single day.

I had a blast participating in my first Bird-A-Thon last year. I woke up at 3:00 am to meet my team in Berkeley and then spent the day travelling all over Marin in search of different species of birds. We identified 155 birds through sightings and songs!

This year, I am hoping to find just as many birds. I am wondering if you would like to donate to the Bird-A-Thon. You can either donate a certain amount of money for every bird that we find or a flat rate. See below for directions on how to donate

I also want to share why I love birding. I enjoy birding because it is accessible to people of all ages and doesn't require a lot of equipment. All you need are binoculars and interest! Birds are beautiful and fascinating to observe and can be found all over the world. I have seen 997 different bird species.

Thank you very much
