Wendy’s Story
5 years ago on May 20th, 2017 I suffered a brain aneurysm rupture on the right side of my brain and nearly lost my life to it. Because my aneurysm ruptured a second time during surgery, I was put in an induced coma for 5 days, my prognosis was 50/50. It was because of the extraordinary surgery performed by Dr. Mack, who saved my life, and the extraordinary care I received from the rest of the medical team at Keck Medicine of USC that I’m still Alive and now running my fourth full marathon post brain aneurysm rupture. During that time I was also diagnosed with a second aneurysm on the left side of my brain. Because of a minimally invasive procedure performed by Dr. Mack, by placing a pipeline embolization device on the aneurysm, my aneurysm never ruptured. I am joining my dear friend and fellow aneurysm survivor Kathy in her mission to fundraise for cerebral vascular disease research and pledging to run 125 miles between feb 20th-April 18th.Please join us to walk, run, swim, or bike 3000 miles. Please support me by donating to my page. No matter how small the amount, Every dollar counts! Thank you!
