My Wilderness Heals Journey

Hey there !

Thank you for stopping by to check out my Wilderness Heals fundraising page - I'm very excited to participate in Wilderness Heals for the 7th consecutive year and I'm very grateful that you're here to learn more about the hike!

Wilderness Heals is a three day pledge hike that raises critical, unrestricted funds for the Stone House located in Roxbury, MA. The Stone House is an inclusive and essential space for adult and children survivors of domestic violence. They provide services, emergency shelter, transitional housing and programs designed to help survivors rebuild lives of purpose and hope for themselves and their families.

My personal history with domestic violence draws me back to this hike year after year as a way to heal and also to give back by raising money for programs that empower victims to become survivors. I am especially passionate about the positive impact the Stone House has on children who are recovering from the trauma of domestic violence.

This year I am serving as the Safety & Logistics coordinator as well as a team leader! Being a team leader means I'll be co-leading a group of 10 women on a 3-day backpacking mission through the White Mountains to increase awareness of domestic violence and raise critical funding to benefit survivors.

The money we've raised over the past several years has enabled the Stone House to open an Early Learning Center for children and provide critical mental health services to children recovering from the trauma of domestic violence. In fact, Stone House is one of few providers of trauma-responsive services for children under 5 in the Greater Boston area.

With your support of Stone House, children benefit not only from safe, stable care, but also personalized interventions to address their unique experiences and needs. Together, we can help children become more emotionally and physically prepared for pre-K and kindergarten; and ensure their families have opportunity to rebuild safe, secure, independent lives of purpose; and, in the far future, the children who are benefitting now will be more likely to lead safe, secure, independent lives themselves.

If you are able to, please consider making a donation to my page. All amounts are greatly appreciated and make a difference in the lives of over 2000 survivors and their families who receive support and services from the Stone House. If you are not in a position to contribute financially then your good wishes, high fives, hugs and support are all gratefully accepted and appreciated :)

Stone House is a 501(c)3 charitable organization and the tax ID is 51-0192418. If you are fortunate enough to work for a company with a corporate match program, we would SO appreciate your corporate match!

Thank you so much for your support ! Whether you are a returning donor or a new donor, your generosity means a lot to me personally and to the clientele of the Stone House. THANK YOU!

With Love and Gratitude,

Heather

Had a GREAT team leader training day last weekend! We had soft skill training as well as map, stove and hike exercises!

Who knew that stove training would result in some of the BEST coffee ever?
