Our Mission
Darcy and I are excited to take on the challenge of completing 200 miles in May for the Run Across May presented by WORK. WORK is a nonprofit organization whose mission is to accompany families in Haiti out of poverty through good, dignified jobs. We are proud to be part of this event and raise funds to support WORK's mission - especially during this incredibly challenging and difficult time for everyone in Haiti.

Well, we limped to the finish as both Darcy and I ended up getting an early summer cold, but over the past two plus weeks we ran 52 miles, cycled another 28 and walked the dogs for 22 miles (all four of us are ready for a couple rest days to start June!).
Thank you to everyone who donated to this great cause and a special thanks to the WORK/FirstMile team for the amazing work you do. Here's hoping the situation in Haiti improves through the remainder of this year.

Another fun week ending with a great run on Mother's Day morning. 25 miles running, 21 miles biking and 6 miles of dog walks. The photo below are the two hounds playing at Jess Pliskin's memorial bench. We wanted to share this photo since Nancy Pliskin donated to this fundraiser in honor of her daughter, Jess. During our Mother's Day run, we were also thinking of all the moms in the Haiti - collectors and collection center owners. These amazing women, who work long, hard hours to provide for their families are a great example of the people aided by WORK team.

Darcy and I got a good start to the Run Across May with 24 miles running, 26 miles biking and 8 miles of dog walks this week. Camas, trillium and lilies are all blooming in the forest, making the runs even more special. This photo is the bridge across Jackson Creek, a beautiful part of many of our runs and about 50 yards from where we saw a bobcat on Tuesday!
