Counting Birds for Conservation

We are excited to take part in the San Diego Birdathon, a birding challenge by the San Diego Bird Alliance’s that is used to raise money for local conservation efforts

The challenge is to spot as many species as possible in a 24 hour period. We will have at least one team member in the field for 24 hours straight while attempting to break the previous record of 196 species.

While our goal of the day is 200 species, our goal for the entirety of the month long campaign is 300 species.

Jake will also attempt to squeeze in his first marathon before the sun comes up while covering ground in search of nocturnal species such as owls and nightjars.

Please consider supporting our efforts by giving to our page. You can pledge per bird species we see or make a flat donation (both are tax-deductible). Every dollar counts for our feathered friends! Thank you.

I’m excited to share our team did very well during our birdathon seeing 139 species! Jake and I birded in the desert and into Ramona Hills Grasslands seeing 63 total bird species as well as two snakes, which was a fun treat.
