Join me to support kids with cancer
Candlelighters' Ride for a Child has organized once again to raise money and awareness for children fighting cancer. Each year our group of friends, family and cancer survivors come together to ride in Cycle Oregon and support this important cause. Because of remarkable generosity from all of you last year, 35 riders raised 208k for these kids, and since 2002 this event has raised over 4 million dollars for Candlelighters.
On our team this year will be six honored children currently in treatment that represent the hundreds of kids facing cancer in the Pacific Northwest...Azeena, Cohen, Connor, Joshua, Katia and Zeke. We riders stay in touch with these kids and families through the summer to share our riding adventures and to remind them that their determination and courage is recognized and respected by those of us that are fortunate enough to be healthy.
Candlelighters is an organization that helps children and families facing childhood cancer. Their programs and services include emergency financial support, monthly family activities, summer camps, scholarships, bereavement costs and much more. As many parents have told us at our meetings this aid is very helpful and provides not only practical necessities but also emotional support and hope in their time of need.
Longtime friend Dick Hartung started this event 24 years ago to honor his daughter Jill, a victim of Ewing's Sarcoma bone cancer. This same cancer has stricken 2 yr. old Cohen, one of our honored kids this year. Liver, brain, and blood cancers are present in the other children on our team.

About Candlelighters
From diagnosis through treatment and beyond, Candlelighters provide programs that meet the needs of the whole family facing childhood cancer. Your support provides:
$25: Helps fill our hospital food pantries, providing access to quick, nutritious meals for families while at their child's bedside during long hospital stays.
$100: Pays one essential household bill for families with a child in treatment struggling to meet their basic needs.
$250: Fills the hospital pantry for one week at OHSU Doernbecher and Randall Children's Hospitals, providing access to quick, nutritious meals for families while at their child's bedside during long hospital stays.
