Support the Screech Owls in the Great Wisconsin Birdathon!
Schlitz Audubon is a true birding "hotspot," one of the most popular birding locations in the state. Birds flock to the Center's native habitats for food and cover during migration, and many remain throughout the entire breeding season. By donating to the Schlitz Audubon Screech Owls, not only are you supporting the Natural Resources Foundation of Wisconsin's Bird Protection Fund, you're helping to support all of the great conservation work that happens at the Schlitz Audubon to ensure that these healthy habitats — and the birds that depend upon them — continue to thrive. All funds raised by the Screech Owls will be split 50/50 between these two great organizations.
The Screech Owls will be birding Schlitz Audubon on May 25 (with a back-up date of May 27). This year the team will be made up of staff members and volunteers, including Michelle Allison, me (Carrie Becker), Jeff Bentoff, Helen Bolgrien, Marilyn Bontly, Zoe Finney, Aubrey Fulsaas, Lynn Krenn, and Jean Strelka. Together we will bird the Center to see how many species we can record over the course of the day. Last year we recorded 102 species. Do you think we can find 100 species again in 2022?

Your Donation Makes a Difference For Birds
Donations made to the Great Wisconsin Birdathon support the Natural Resources Foundation of Wisconsin’s Bird Protection Fund, which has given out over $1.2 million towards Wisconsin’s highest priority bird conservation projects since its inception in 2009.
Whether it's creating Piping Plover habitat, rearing Whooping Crane chicks, monitoring Kirtland's Warbler nests, supporting community initiatives for bird-friendly neighborhoods, engaging new and underrepresented voices in the birding community, building impactful collaborations to protect Wisconsin's Important Bird Areas, protecting our neotropical migrants on their long migratory journeys to Central America ... the Bird Protection Fund is there to help.
