Dear Friends & Family,
We’re so excited to share that Team Helen is back for the 2025 Step UP for Down Syndrome Walk on Saturday, October 25 at Falls Road Park in Potomac, MD—and we’d love to have you be a part of it!
As many of you know, Helen is 17 now—and she’s sassy, full of joy, and a ton of fun! She keeps us laughing, keeps us moving, and reminds us every day what really matters. She adores her big brothers—and the feeling is mutual. Helen is included in every aspect of our family life, and we wouldn’t have it any other way.
We’re walking to celebrate everything that makes Helen uniquely amazing, and to raise funds for the Down Syndrome Network of Montgomery County (DSNMC)—an organization that has supported us from the very beginning and continues to help us navigate life with Helen. DSNMC offers programs, advocacy, resources, and—most importantly—a welcoming and supportive community for families like ours.

So excited to share that Team Helen has raised 36% of our goal! Helen has been very busy this summer! Her summer swim team ended about a week ago. She swam 3-4 times per week and competed 1-2 per week. It was a lot of hard work and she persevered. She just returned home from attending the National Down Syndrome Congress Convention where she learned all about advocacy and spent time with new and old friends! She is now enrolled in DSNMC's Career and College Readiness program and has stated that she is ready to go to college! Wishing everyone a wonderful rest of the summer. Looking forward to seeing everyone's updates and community posts!
