I’m birding for a better world! Can you cheer me on?
I'm excited to be a part of Feminist Bird Club's Birdathon for Congo! Our birding community is coming together to celebrate the inclusive nature of bird joy while fundraising for Friends of the Congo (FOTC), a nonprofit that amplifies, resources and empowers communities at the frontlines of the climate crisis in Congo.
Please help me reach my goal by leaving a flat donation or making a pledge to support my birding efforts! Your support will help provide critical funds for Friends of the Congo. Thank you for considering and stay tuned for my birding updates! 🐦

Was a morning of pairs while walking my dog: a pair of Brown-headed Cowbirds foraging under a tree, a pair of House Finches mating, and a pair of Eastern Kingbirds perched on a branch in a tree. Three more species to add to my count. :)

Had a late start to Birdathon but managed to meet my goal during our FBC Boston outing plus logging a few more species on my walk home. Due to the rain, it wasn’t a particular “birdy” morning 😔 but we managed to see 20 species (well 19 plus a gull sp.) during the outing. https://ebird.org/checklist/S175619348
Then of course all the birds came out on my walk home so logged 8 more species that we didn’t see during the outing, including a Magnolia Warbler that I hadn’t seen yet this migration season. https://ebird.org/checklist/S175655820
Stopped my checklist once I was out of the Arboretum but I spotted a Black-capped Chickadee and a European Starling on my street, which completed my 30 species!
And just for extra credit, I saw a Hairy Woodpecker and a Red-tailed Hawk while walking my dog later in the afternoon. 😊

Spring migration has started in Boston! The Baltimore and Orchard Orioles are back in the Arboretum! Managed to snap a picture with my phone of a Baltimore Oriole in the Arboretum last week when they had first arrived. :) Can't wait to see how many bird species I'll find during Birdathon!
