Well it's a wrap. After four weeks of birding I logged 136 species and over 70 miles of walking, surpassing my species and fundraising goals. Thank you everyone for supporting me and the Connecticut Audubon! It truly means a lot to me and the birds. I'm already looking forward to next year!!!

Well it's official, yesterday after battling bad weather and killer mosquitos I hit my species goal. Even though the weather was less than stellar I'm glad Jason and I got up extra early and headed down to the shore. While I still have 2 days left I don't expect my species observed number to go up much more considering the forecast, but then again you never know what you're going to see unless you get out there! Expect a final count Monday with total mileage for the month. Have a great weekend everyone!

20 miles is a long way to walk for 9 species but it's a drop in the bucket compared to the journey many of our feathered friends make each spring and fall. As migration slows down so are my options for finding new species. Thursday morning might be my last chance to get to the shore and it might be a wet one, but with only 5 more species to go and only 4 days left it will be worth it!

Another 9 species (including a lifer Blue Grossbeak) and almost 15 miles of walking over the last week. I'm only 14 species short of my goal so hopefully I'll get a few tonight when I hit the trails at Collis P. Huntington State Park after work. Wish me luck and as always, thanks for the support!

It was another busy weekend. I had the pleasure of joining Stefan Martin, CT Audubon's conservation manager, for a guided walk of the Smith Richardson Wildlife Preserve Saturday morning and then made a slow roll back up to Danbury. Along the way Jason and I stopped at Acorn Lane, an Aspetuck Land Trust trail, and Brett Woods Open Space in Fairfield. Sunday morning, I hit up Tarrywile solo for some pre-Mother's Day birding. I am happy to report another 26 species bringing my total so far to 102. Fingers crossed the rain that's predicted over the next few days is light and doesn't get in the way of me reaching my goal of 125 species for the month!
