Counting Birds for Conservation

I am excited to take part in the San Diego Birdathon, a birding challenge supporting San Diego Bird Alliance’s local conservation, education, and advocacy efforts that benefit birds, other wildlife, and all who enjoy them.

I'm proud to help protect endangered birds like the California Least Tern, Ridgway's Rail, and Belding's Savannah Sparrow by counting as many bird species as I can in 24 hours during my Birdathon. Please consider supporting my efforts by giving to my page. You can pledge per bird species I see or make a flat donation (both are tax-deductible). Every dollar counts for our feathered friends! Thank you.

Thank you to everyone who attended our Birdathon event this weekend at Santee Lakes! The day and location were absolutely beautiful for an afternoon of birding!

We observed a total of 41 species!  Some highlights: a great-horned owl mama staying alert near her nest, a single Caspain tern flying above the water (hello lifer!), a flock of cedar waxwings landing on a tree and immediately camouflaging themselves among the leaves, and that beautiful leucistic wood duck and her 10 little ducklings

Thank you again, Michelle, for keeping our eBird list: https://ebird.org/checklist/S321255650

Happy birding and hope to see you again soon!
