We're Participating in the 2025 COBC on Sept. 6 and We Need Your Support!
The Longmontspurs are excited to be back for the 2025 Colorado Birding Challenge! On September 6, follow along on our journey to find as many bird species as we can in Broomfield County to support Colorado Field Ornithologists and its conservation mission.
Meet the team:
Sarah Spotten--former Front Range Birding & Optics employee
Hailing from the mystical, faraway land of California, Sarah began her journey down the Birder's Path as a child before losing her way in the wilderness of adolescence. Now, in a new land of exotic species like the fearsome Blue Jay and the nimble, Black-capped Chickadee, she trains in the tiny village of Longmont under an enigmatic new master, Merlin. Her destiny: to atone for lost time and reclaim her title as Birder. Her finishing move, a legendary technique known as Digiscoping, seals her targets' fate, sometimes even when they are in flight.
Stephen Chang--former Front Range Birding & Optics employee
With his roots in the state of Wisconsin, Stephen's blood does, in fact, run hot like melted cheddar, especially when there are birds to be seen. In fact, he is able to mimic over 150 bird songs and calls, albeit, not very well. His passion for birds first began when he did, in fact, see "the eagle" one morning while on a walk at the local park. After then proceeding to ask every person he saw if they also saw it, he knew that the Way of the Bird would be for life.
Jamie Simo--Front Range Birding & Optics Boulder manager
Since moving to the village of Longmont from the distant Commonwealth of Virginia, Jamie has carefully honed her skills in the ancient art of Birdwatching. However, she still has a long way to go before she can be considered a legendary Birder. Armed with her sacred Swarovski NL Pures and the time-freezing power of her Nikon D7500, she has entered the 2025 Colorado Birding Challenge to bring honor to the Boulder clan of Front Range Birding & Optics.
You can support our quest by making a donation or pledging an amount for each bird species we find. Go bird or go home!
