Our Mission

This is my third year joining 200 Together presented by WORK, and I'm hoping to get 20 people to ride with me on my team "Rad Max: Fury Road 2.0." Why that name? Well, a) I love that fourth and best Mad Max flick with Charlize Theron as the steely heroine Furiosa, but b) "Rad" means "bike" in German and, I hope you'll agree, has c) maximum radical potential for freeing us commuters from our fossil fuel dependency. Ride that road with fury, like your future generations depend on it!

Last year five of us (Anne, Karen, Kathleen, Liam and I) raised $2700, but what's more important is that despite the distances we rode our 200 TOGETHER on WORK's event platform -- Anne in NYC, Karen in Boston, Kathleen in Minneapolis, Liam in DC and me in Pittsburgh (tho I did get an awesome 30 miles in down in DC with Liam).

And that's all thanks to the very special nonprofit WORK led by my besties Viv & Nelly out in LA; Christina right here in the Burgh. WORK's mission is to accompany families in Haiti out of poverty through good, dignified jobs, but along the way they create partnerships that draw big multi-nationals and creative start-ups into the fight to keep our oceans free of plastic waste. To learn more about WORK, visit www.dowork.org, follow them on social @doworkorg or check out this 55-second video.

Some might ask: why Haiti? Haiti, like the US, is a nation born of a revolution, but due to misfortunes of both natural and human causes, has never managed to soar. Haiti is a reminder to all wealthy nations that our global resources -- clean oceans, pristine beaches, dense forests -- are finite, that we must work to preserve them. WORK, the company, not only shows us that we can engage, but how we can engage to further our ESG goals: environment+social-equity+governance = healthy lives and a healthy planet!

Please join my team and ride with us 200 Together!
