My Mission
For those who don't know me, I'm Vivien Luk, the Executive Director of WORK. Thanks for being interested in our mission!
Family and friends, hi! Thanks so much for supporting me this year.
I'm excited to join my team in the Move Across May supporting our families in Haiti. This month, I'm challenging myself to complete at least one 60-minute workout each day. They may include:
running (which I love)
HIIT workouts (which I love less)
bouldering (which still scares the shit out of me)
yoga (a new love)
weight training (which I know nothing about)
Class of your choice - donate $250 and I'll take on your rec!
I've always wanted to work towards being active everyday and it's a huge challenge for me to take on with my work and travel schedules. For those who know me, you know... This will motivate me to find creative ways to complete my challenge and support our families.
I'm extremely proud of our community who have committed to support our families year after year. I'm even more proud of the progress our families make each day. They fight through more than any of us can even imagine. It's my utmost privilege to serve them.
Help us all reach our campaign fundraising goal by making a donation today. Whether you're supporting me or one of my many team members this month, every dollar counts!

Aside from completing my activities and fundraising this month, my big big goal was to get outdoors and get my first climbing send.
I started climbing about 2 years ago. It was a slow start given my work travel schedule. I started to pick up momentum last fall only to get injured - dislocated shoulder from a previous sports injury.
This month, I dedicated most of my time to getting back on the wall and conquering some fears. Over the weekend, Justin, Juno, and I, along with friends, spent the weekend climbing outdoors. I got my first send on boulders and on ropes. I didn't think that was possible and I'm so proud and so motivated to go again!!

Each Move Across May, our friend and RAH alum Iggy completes a 52-mile day on a track. He'd start at around 4am and miraculously, he's finished earlier and earlier each year. We track his miles on Strava so he's not running any less!
Unfortunately, he's injured this year so we decided to do another challenge - get a mile in with a group of friends (aimed for 52) and a pre-workout at Equinox. Ozzie, another friend and RAH alum who came up with the initial idea and has completed it before, jumped in as a collaborator. It's so good to hang out with this crew, this beautiful community who always shows up for each other.

When i made it home, I was able to get back to my routine of running and climbing at the gym, doing my Daily Burn workouts, and yoga classes. I love traveling but I also love being back home to settle into a routine. It's an absolute de-stressor and brings so much mindfulness to my personal space after lots and lots of flights and movements and interactions. I tried to take some photos of my Daily Burn workouts but they were terrible and I was really trying to stay in my no phone but more photos coming up!

Headed back to Montreal for a couple more days and got to run at the super well landscaped Olympic Park. Our recycling partner, Lavergne is based there, and along with our brand partner HP, who purchases the recycled materials collected by our Haitian collectors, we presented on our work and provided tours of the facility. It's always so energizing to be able to talk about our 7-year partnership together!

From Montreal, I spent a few days in New York for work. Team Lean, Strong, and Fast happened to be doing their 8 mile community run/tour of Little Haiti. I couldn't have missed it! It was so much fun. Love this team and I can't wait to spend more time exploring Little Haiti. Huge thanks to Dani Marsh, team captain of RAH Alumni Team, for joining us! She did 36 miles that day, 15 prior to this community run, 8 with this crew, and the rest after for her Challenge. So grateful for our alums and our growing community!
