Team Captain of Larimer Helmetcrests

I'm Participating in the 2025 Colorado Birding Challenge (CoBC) on Sept. 6 and I am seeking sponsors.

I'm excited to participate in the 2025 Colorado Birding Challenge! Together with my team the Larimer Helmetcrests, we will to try and find as many species of birds as possible on Sept. 6 to support Colorado Field Ornithologists and its conservation mission.

You can support my team by making a donation or pledging an amount for each bird species we find.

CFO's mission is important to me and I'm proud to help them make a difference. Please support me by giving to my page. Every dollar counts!

Thank you! --Nick Komar (team Larimer Helmetcrests)

Our bike team (Brendan Beers, David Wade and Nick Komar) started the day shortly after 6 AM after being dropped high in the hills west of Fort Collins. We rode downhill stopping for birds arriving at Watson Lake (Bellvue) shortly after 11 AM. We then followed the Poudre River trail until we reached Harmony Road in Timnath shortly after 5 pm. We ended the day at Timnath Reservoir at sundown (7:40 pm). Special thanks to all our donors, CFO event organizers and Kathy Kay for getting up early to drop us and our bicycles at our start point atop Rist Canyon. No rarities, but many unexpected species such as a Northern Pygmy-Owl being mobbed by angry Pygmy Nuthatches in the morning and a lingering Common Nighthawk hawking insects in the evening. Our team raised over $1000!

A little late to the game, The Larimer Helmetcrests will ride again. Any other green teams out there competing?
