I'm Participating in Celebrating Long Lives to Support Those with Chronic Lymphocytic Leukemia

Thank you for supporting my participation in CLL Society's Celebrating Long Live virtual 5K! On May 10th I'll be participating in a 5K in support of the 200,000 individuals living with the incurable blood cancers chronic lymphocytic leukemia and small lymphocytic lymphoma (CLL/SLL).

In 2015 I was diagnosed with CLL and remained in the Watch and Wait stage until November 0f 2024 when the disease progressed rapidly and I started to show many signs and symptoms. I started treatment using Calquence and am doing well on the treatment. I believe my love and dedication to running kept me healthy and off treatment for so many years.

All funds raised will go to the organization CLL Society, a nonprofit organization whose mission is to address the unmet needs of the CLL/SLL community through patient education, advocacy, support, and research. To learn more about the work of CLL Society, visit https://cllsociety.org/.

Grateful. Humbled. Inspired.
It was a perfect day on Forbidden Drive in Philadelphia for the Celebrating Long Lives 5K—a race that holds deep personal meaning for me.

For as long as I can remember, running and racing have been part of who I am. Over the years, I’ve run on behalf of many people I care about. But this race was different—it was for me.

In 2015, I was diagnosed with CLL. I began treatment this past November, and I believe that staying active and committed to running helped delay that moment for many years.

Thank you from the bottom of my heart to all my friends who donated to the CLL Society in my honor. Your generosity and love mean more than words can express.

Running has gotten harder lately—CLL, treatment, and a stubborn knee have made sure of that—but I showed up, and I crossed that finish line. I ran for myself, and for those who no longer can.

Every mile is a reminder that I’m still here, still strong, and still moving forward.
